Description

“Keep it simple, fresh and make sure it tastes good!”

Those few words epitomize Chef Jason Kleinfeld’s philosophy on food and cooking. Since its inception in 2000, Jason lead the kitchen at The Sandbar Seafood Restaurant, fine-tuning the menu of one of Vancouver’s finest seafood eateries.

Kleinfeld began his culinary career after an apprenticeship at Vancouver’s BCIT and VCC. In 1986, recognizing he needed genuine restaurant experience, Kleinfeld accepted an entry level position at the Boathouse Restaurant in Coal Harbour (where Cardero’s now stands).

In the next few years that followed, Jason further developed his skills and talent in some of Vancouver’s best seafood restaurants. In 1996 he began his career with the Sequoia Company of Restaurants as the Sous Chef at Cardero’s Restaurant under Executive Chef at the time, Annabelle Leslie. When the Sandbar Seafood Restaurant opened on Granville Island in 2000, Jason was a natural choice for Executive Chef. For 10 years Jason lead their kitchen to become one of Vancouver’s most renowned seafood restaurants.

We from work went to Cardero’s to celebrate a new team member. This will be a difficult review to write because I ate a Salad at a Seafood Restaurant.
We ordered Beer, some cocktails, some Appetizers.
The Chicken Appetizer was the best. My team members had the scallop appetizer and they loved it too.
All the others ordered the special Trip of Grilled Scallop, Fish and Shrimp. They loved it.
My salad was also really good.
If you love seafood, and a beautiful view of water, then this is the place.

We had lunch at Carderos after an exhausting walk around downtown Vancouver.we were seated at the bar, by a window with a great view of the harbor. Our server was pretty attentive and efficient. We split a salad and pizza, which were quite good. The pace itself is very large, lots of wood and fishing type decorations. It seems to have a large amount of wine available. It was a good experience and definitely worth a visit.

A Fine restaurant with a “Varied Menu”.
This restaurant has excellent seafood and fish choices– but also, dishes such as hamburgers, steak and spare ribs and even Pizza are “on offer”. The quality of service is very “professional”… and the atmosphere/ambience is conducive to “dining”, and that is a big plus!! The “wine list” and drinks, like the food is “more than acceptable! In addition to the food, the restaurant’s “pub” features music every evening as well as afternoons on the weekend. You will definitely enjoy a visit to this interesting culinary experience/night out!

I hope that this Review is helpful.
