Shopping District

Main Street

Mount Pleasant, Vancouver

Main Street has a variety of original Vancouver and Canadian fashion boutiques, plus high-quality second-hand wares, collectibles and antiques.

Main Street is the hip, local counterpart to downtown’s glitzy high-end shopping.

While the area does include antique and consignment stores, the real reason to visit is the fashion: Main Street boutiques are home to some of the best independent Canadian and local fashion in the city.

While the official neighbourhood name is Mount Pleasant, the portion of Main Street that runs from 2nd Avenue to 33 Ave is also known as “South Main” or “SoMa”.  Once genuinely seedy, students and artists moved in about 20 years ago, followed by hipsters–who transformed South Main into the trendy neighbourhood it is today–and now affluent hipsters along with young families.

There’s a very Vancouver-vibe to South Main that makes it a great destination for visitors and locals alike. Along with several of Vancouver’s best restaurants and nightlife, this area is one of the best places for “one of a kind “shopping in Vancouver. Canadian fashion stores are found throughout the strip, along with home decor shops, antiques and thrift shops.
