Home to The University Of British Columbia and the massive Pacific Spirit Park, this affluent community is both lush in green space and lifestyle.
Home to University Of British Columbia, beautiful luxury homes, some of the best outdoor amenities in the city and an excellent hospital, the University neighbourhood is somewhat of its own city within the city. The community is also home to some of the best tourist attractions like the UBC Botanical Garden and the Museum of Anthropology. If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, you’ll love the proximity to pristine beaches and forest trails.
University is located on the western edge of Vancouver West, bordered by Point Grey, Dunbar & Southlands.
Located on the western edge of Vancouver, Pacific Spirit Regional Park is a hiking and mountain biking playground. There’s over 54 kilometers of accessible trails, with both a mix of forested and shoreline. There are over 1,850 acres of forest in the park, and an easy loop trail will allow you to take a three-hour hike through much of it. Not only does the park feature the clothing-optional Wreck Beach on the western edge, but 38 kilometers of the park’s trails are designated multi-use and available for cycling and horseback riding, making the park great for almost any outdoor activity.
And of course, being on the Western tip of the Lower Mainland affords access to two beaches ideal for sports, jogging or simply relaxing. You can easily walk or bike to both Wreck Beach and Spanish Banks Beach.
Nature enthusiasts won’t want to miss the serene Nitobe Memorial Garden, UBC Botanical Garden and Greenheart TreeWalk, or the Beat Biodiversity Museum – part of the university’s science faculty. The stunning Chan Centre for the Performing Arts is one of the city’s top performance spaces, but probably the most acclaimed cultural institution on campus is the Museum of Anthropology at UBC, with its impressive collection of Northwest Coast First Nations arts.
For those who like to tee it up, the University Golf Club is a very short drive down West 10th Avenue and offers an excellent 18 holes of golf, restaurant, driving range and professional instruction.
In addition to the shops and restaurants on the University of British Columbia campus, the nearby West 10th Avenue corridor features a colourful array of stores, restaurants, coffee shops and more.
